'Game of Thrones' Season 3 featurette goes 'Inside the Wildlings'

When Jon Snow heads north of the Wall in Season 3 of "Game of Thrones," he'll be meeting the Wildlings in all their glory, and so will viewers. HBO has released a new featurette that introduces fans to the Wildling culture prior to the Season 3 premiere on March 31. The video includes plenty of new scenes from Jon's storyline in the upcoming 10-episode third season.

"The Wildlings are the people who live north of the Wall," George R.R. Martin explains in the featurette. "The name 'wildling' is what the people who live south of the Wall call them, and they would reject that name as its connotations of being uncivilized. ... There's actually quite a lot of Westeros north of the Wall."

Co-showrunner D.B. Weiss adds, "Things that are reduced to legend and history in the southern world are living and breathing north of the Wall, the giants being an obvious one."

The featurette also touches on why Ciaran Hinds's Mance Rayder was chosen to be the King Beyond The Wall, and the role women have to play in Wildling culture. "Game of Thrones" returns to HBO on March 31 at 9 p.m. ET.
