"Game of Thrones" ended Season 4 in a big way, but not big enough to top the 7.2 million live viewers ratings high it earned twice earlier in the season. "The Children" still earned a huge number of viewers during its first live airing, though, as 7.1 million people tuned in.
That number grew to 9.3 million viewers when the two additional Sunday-night airings are added. For the entire season, "Game of Thrones" averaged 18.6 million viewers per episode across all platforms, which is the largest audience ever for an HBO show.
Overall, "Game of Thrones" was up in ratings 29 percent from Season 3. With nine more months until it's expected that Season 5 will premiere, chances are there will be another big boost in viewership by the time the 2015 season debuts.
