Jaime Lannister helped his brother Tyrion Lannister escape King's Landing at the end of
"Game of Thrones"
Season 4 so the Imp could escape certain death, but that assistance of his younger brother landed Jaime with some unforeseen troubles. As viewers know, Tyrion killed his father Tywin Lannister, the Hand of the King, before leaving Westeros, which means Season 5 will begin with some major political upheaval.
spoke with "Game of Thrones" star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau at San Diego Comic-Con 2014, and asked him what Jaime's reaction to Tywin's death will be. "Shock," he answers simply, "because that was not the plan. The plan was to help Tyrion escape."
Though Jaime sided with Tyrion by helping him escape, he also wasn't hoping for his father's death. "No matter what Tywin has done, I think Jaime still loves his father because he's his father, and he certainly didn't want him dead," Coster-Waldau says.
"Also, on a political scale it's a disaster because Tywin was so powerful," the Danish actor continues. "[Jaime] understands that it is not good for the safety of Cersei and Tommen and the Lannisters."
