'Game of Thrones' star Richard Madden cast in 'Cinderella' as Prince Charming
"Game of Thrones'" King of the North is now going to be "Cinderella's" Prince Charming. Disney has officially announced that Richard Madden will play Cinderella's prince in Kenneth Branagh's upcoming live-action adaptation of the classic story.
"Downton Abbey's" Lily James was recently cast as Cinderella, while Cate Blanchett will play her evil stepmother, Lady Tremaine. No release date has been set for the project, but it seems like Disney is bringing it together fairly quickly.
Back in April it was revealed that Madden was high up on a short list of actors that Branagh was looking at for the prince role. His arch on "Game of Thrones" is proof enough that he is a perfect pick for the part, as his character Robb Stark was forced into a royal role after the death of his father and has more than adequately stepped up to the task. Madden's portrayal of Robb Stark has made him a fan-favorite, which is especially impressive because Robb was a somewhat one-dimensional character in the books that "Game of Thrones" is based on. Hopefully this exciting role is a sign of big things to come for Madden.
