'Game of Thrones' Take the Black Stout beer arrives before Fall release
Brewery Ommegang's "Game of Thrones" Take the Black Stout is finally ready to make its way to fans around the United States. After first being announced in June and tasted at San Diego Comic-Con, Zap2it received two bottles of the newest "Game of Thrones" beer in anticipation of its Fall release.
Take the Black Stout will be available on draft and in 750 ml bottles starting at the end of September. Fans looking to find where the beer will be available closest to them should check out the "find a beer" tab at the Brewery Ommegang website. This dark brew is full of Midnight wheat, roasted barley, Northern Brewer hops and chocolate malt. As its name implies, the stout is inspired by the Night's Watch and its dreamiest member, Jon Snow.
The label art on Take the Black Stout was designed by a52 and depicts a Weirwood tree covered in snow. a52 is the same studio that designed the opening credits sequence for "Game of Thrones." Take the Black Stout is a full 7 percent alcohol by volume.
Ommegang will have a special Take the Black Stout launch event in Los Angeles at the Blue Palms Brewhouse. On Sept. 29 from 1pm-5pm, the exclusive release event will allow fans to be among the first to sip the new beer. Tickets are $15 online and $20 at the door, and will get fans a commemorative "Game of Thrones" glass (like the one pictured), a pour of the beer, and a gourmet sausage. Also available at the party will be the first "Game of Thrones" Ommegang beer, Iron Throne Blonde Ale.
"Game of Thrones" Season 4 returns to HBO in Spring 2014.
