Gene Hackman smacks homeless man in New Mexico
According to the Santa Fe New Mexican, Hackman admitted to police that he slapped the man, but no charges are being filed because after examining the evidence, police believe that Hackman was acting in self-defense.
"He was afraid that he and his wife were going to be attacked," Sgt. Andrea Dobyns tells the New Mexican. "Mr. Hackman told our officers that this homeless man assaulted him and his wife and called her a foul word."
The man who threatened the couple was identified as 63-year-old Bruce Becker, who called the police after the smack. The New Mexican reports that Becker has an arrest record that includes multiple charges of battery.
