Gene Simmons on Miley Cyrus' VMAs performance, rates her tongue-wagging
There have been a lot of critics dissing Miley Cyrus' now-infamous tongue-wagging (among other things) at the MTV VMAs. But the only one we're interested in hearing from is the tongue-wagging expert himself, Gene Simmons.
The KISS icon had a few words to share about Cyrus' performance and her tongue-wagging skills, and came to her defense about her performance. "I don't understand why people got so upset," Simmons says in an interview with Rolling Stone. "Whether you stick out your tongue or shake your tushy, all the other girls are doing the same thing. Any girl whose name ends with an 'A' -- Madonna, Shakira, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, all these girls who sing pop songs through backing tracks like it's karaoke and gyrate all over the stage -- if they can do it, why can't Miley? Either condemn the whole lot of them or leave her alone."
And as for her tongue-wagging performance? According to Simmons, it was respectable but nowhere near his own skills. "It was okay," Simmons says. "But that's a girl's version. It's like girls basketball. It's as good as girls can get at basketball. But you can't play with the guys."
