'General Hospital' hires 'One Life to Live' EP, head writerAdd to Favorites | General Hospital
Executive producer Frank Valentini and head writer Ron Carlivati will make the move to "GH" starting Jan. 9. "One Life to Live' filmed its final episode last month.
"I look forward to this next exciting chapter working with the wonderful cast and crew of 'General Hospital,'" Valentini says in a statement. "This is an incredible opportunity for me to extend my passion and expertise for daytime television as I continue my relationship with [ABC] and become part of an extraordinary team in 2012."
Just how long Valentini and Carlivati have to work with "General Hospital" is an open question. As Vulture noted when it broke the news of the moves (ABC later made the official announcement), "GH" could find itself without a home next season when ABC rolls out Katie Couric's daytime talk show.
Valentini is replacing current "GH" showrunner Jill Farren Phelps, whose contract expires soon. His job will be to increase ratings and/or cut costs enough to make the argument for retaining the long-running soap over either "The Chew," which has earned decent ratings this fall, or companion show "The Revolution," which debuts in January.
If that doesn't happen, it could turn into a fairly short-term gig.
