George Clooney may be the king of the film industry, but he's making moves in television as well. The actor has signed an overall deal with Sony Pictures TV to develop new shows for broadcast, cable and digital platforms.

THR reports the two-year deal will allow Clooney and his production partner Grant Heslov to develop comedies and dramas under their Smokehouse Pictures banner. Previously, Smokehouse has a first look deal with Warner Bros. TV, producing "Memphis Beat" on TNT.

Smokehouse has also produced films like "The Monuments Men" and "August: Osage County" through a film deal with Sony.
