George R.R. Martin announces new 'Game of Thrones' prequel short story, 'The Rogue Prince, or, the King's Brother'Add to Favorites | Game of Thrones
The anthology is called "Rogues." Martin had previously announced he would be editing and writing the introduction for the collection of 20 writers' stories, including works by Neil Gaiman, Gillian Flynn and Patrick Rothfuss.
Now Martin has announced a 21st story will be part of the book, penned by the "Game of Thrones" author himself. It will be titled "The Rogue Prince, or, the King's Brother" and will detail the years leading up to the civil war in Westeros, which took place two centuries before the events of "A Song of Fire and Ice." The short story will pay particular attention to Prince Daemon, the brother to King Viserys I Targaryen.
The story will be a prequel to the events of "The Princess and the Queen," Martin's 35,000-word novella that appears in the "Dangerous Women" anthology, which was released in December 2013.
"Rogues" is due out June 17, 2014, and "Game of Thrones" returns for Season 4 on Sunday, April 6 on HBO.
