George R.R. Martin might not be ready to announce a release date for "The Winds of Winter," but he is ready to give away plot point spoilers.
In a new interview with
writer teased the upcoming sixth "A Song of Ice and Fire" novel. These plot points can be considered spoilers for those who want to be kept in the dark about the events in "The Winds of Winter."
"Tyrion and Dany will intersect, in a way, but for much of the book they're still apart," Martin says of the two characters who are both so close but so far in and around Meereen in "A Dance with Dragons." "They both have quite large roles to play here [in 'TWOW']."
He elaborates, "Tyrion has decided that he actually would like to live, for one thing, which he wasn't entirely sure of during the last book, and he's now working toward that end -- if he can survive the battle that's breaking out all around him. And Dany has embraced her heritage as a Targaryen and embraced the Targaryen words. So they're both coming home."
For those who forget, the Targaryen words are "Fire and Blood." And in addition to the Battle at Meereen, "The Winds of Winter" will kick off with some other big clashes.
"I think we're gonna start out with a big smash with the two enormous battles," Martin says. "We have more deaths, and we have more betrayals. We have more marriages."
Meanwhile Martin confirms that the Dothraki are coming back "in a big way" and "a lot of stuff is happening at The Wall."
"Game of Thrones"
quickly catches up to (and in some
) where Martin is at in his novels, chances are some of these plot points will be reached, if not passed, in the upcoming Season 5. Here's hoping Martin can get the book out before that time.
