George Takei brokers 'Star Wars'/'Star Trek' peace, wants us to hate 'Twilight' instead
Takei has just released a video where he tries to make peace between "Star Trek" and "Star Wars" stars William Shatner and Carrie Fisher and millions of fans who just can't find it within themselves to love both. If you don't know about the Shatner/Fisher banter, you'll see some of it in the piece. Shatner: "First of all, "Star Wars" was derivative of "Star Trek." Derivative!" Fisher: "Klingon? It just sounds like a laundry detergent."
Takei tells us to shut our "big wormholes" and focus our venom on the property that deserves it: "Twilight." "It's really, really bad," Takei tells us. "Gone is any sense of heroism, camaraderie, or epic battles. In its place we have vampires that sparkle and mope and go to high school ... Sci-fi fans, be warned. There are no great stories, characters, or profound life lessons to be had in "Twilight." Nooo. The only message that rings through loud and clear is, 'Does my boyfriend like me?'"
George, we love you so much it hurts.
