Could a "Girls" star be the big bad in the new "Star Wars" movie?

According to Variety, Adam Driver is nearing a deal to play the Darth Vader-esque villain in J.J. Abrams' new "Star Wars: Episode VII."

While the casting has yet to be confirmed, the 30-year-old "Girls" star is the first name to be nearing a deal to star in the highly anticipated movie, which will fit in to the franchise chronologically after "Return of the Jedi." The delay in inking a deal is rumored to be due to scheduling concerns with possible future seasons of "Girls" and possible future "Star Wars" installments.

Driver was recently rumored to be in the running to play Nightwing in "Batman vs. Superman." Could you see Driver as the new Darth Vader-like villain?

"Star Wars: Episode VII" hits theaters on Dec. 18, 2015.
