Cory Monteith's mom still keeps in contact with Lea Michele

One year after "Glee" star Cory Monteith died of a drug overdose, his mother had broken her silence. In an interview on "Good Morning America," Ann McGregor admits that she's only now beginning to come to terms with her son's death.

"Only the last few days I've been able to accept it," she says. "Until three days ago I couldn't look at a picture of Cory, so there's been progress." If anyone knows her pain, it's Monteith's former girlfriend and co-star Lea Michele, who McGregor still keeps in contact with. "She texts me and emails me," she explains. "She's hurting too. I mean, you see the sadness."

When asked what she would say to other parents of other Hollywood stars who may be facing the same difficulties, McGregor simply offers,"I don't think we have power to change the choices they're making. I think with the kind of connection Cory and I had, if we couldn't prevent that situation I don't have the answer."

McGregor doesn't blame show business for Monteith's death, though. "That was his choice," she says.
