'Glee': Did you enjoy 'Prom-asaurus,' a.k.a. the Rachel Berry redemption hour?
Listen, the last three episodes of Season 3 are totally going to be epic (with next week's body-switching/nationals one-two punch and then the sure-to-be-tear-filled graduation), so we're going to be kind on prom part deux. The story was fine -- Brittany decided to throw a dinosaur-themed dance, prom queen/king voting occurred, and oh yeah QUINN WALKED -- but not outrageous. It seemed to set things in motion for the end of the season while bringing the characters closer together.
The one truly touching moment came when, after Quinn and Santana tallied the prom votes, they both realized they didn't need the self esteem boost and decided to rig it so Rachel would win instead. It was sweet but not cloying, and she really did need a win after her NYADA bomb. Quinn and Joe had been keeping her walking skills a secret but she was getting better, so it's not like she wasn't doing well. And Brittany and Santana seem to be on pretty solid ground as a couple.
Best Song of the Night: "Take My Breath Away," Quinn and Santana
The friendship between the former Cheerio HBICs is downright sweet. Plus, the moment when Quinn stood was still touching despite the fact that we knew she could walk.
Worst Song of the Night: ???
Listen, none of the songs were truly terrible. The music was mostly stuck in the background at the prom this week than intertwined with the storyline (aside from Rachel, Kurt and Blaine's sweet "Big Girls Don't Cry"), so we can't really say that any of them were bad. Unless you disagree?
-- Did Helen Mirren come back and record another voiceover for Becky or was that a sound-alike British lady?
--Speaking of Becky, those scenes where she destroyed the xylophones and cafeteria trays must have been fun to shoot.
--LOL: "This is clearly just a party for you and the two gay Winklevi twins."
--Sam + Mercedes at prom together = A+
--Blaine's natural hair = A+++++
Essentially, "Prom-asaurus" was a good, solid entry but not really groundbreaking. It's not worst-of-Season-2 terrible, nor is it best-of-Season-1 excellent. Were you more sold on the episode than we were?
