'Glee,' no 'N Sync tribute episode, please
Former 'N Sync member Joey Fatone has started a Twitter campaign to get his boyband mates -- or at least himself -- onto the FOX musical show.
His tweets from Tuesday (Sept. 28), the night of the "Britney/Brittany" episode:
"Glee was good but I think my ass needs to get on that show a be a teacher or someone in the background ! Lol"
"And let GLEEonFOX how ya feel either do an nsync ep or have me on there that would be a blast!!"
He later tells People, "I love acting and I like to sing. It'd be perfect! Seriously, it's a great show. I'm a fan," adding that "Bye Bye Bye" or "It's Gonna Be Me" would be good songs for the show.
Zap2it likes 'N Sync, but we're not keen on the idea of yet another tribute episode. The "Britney/Brittany" one was fine, but there's definitely too much taken away from the natural storytelling when these episodes happen. They're too manufactured and take away from the characters. So we vote "no" for a tribute episode.
We're not opposed to one of their songs being used, but we just don't want all of them to be shoehorned in there.
We still do, however, think having Fatone or Justin Timberlake as a guest star would really work, playing actual characters, not themselves. Not only are they both hilarious, but they've both done their share of acting and dancing (like on "Dancing With the Stars" or "Saturday Night Live"). Even "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy has admitted he'd like Timberlake to play Mr. Schue's ( Matthew Morrison) younger brother.
We imagine the Neil Patrick Harris treatment. That worked out pretty well, right? And while you're granting wishes, can we have Joss Whedon back as a director? Thank you. XOXO
