'Glee' scraps its summer concert tour for 2012
"We currently have no plans of touring the cast this summer," a rep for "Glee" producer 20th Century Fox TV tells The Hollywood Reporter. Instead, the cast may do a one-time show at the Hollywood Bowl in the late summer or fall to benefit Glee Give a Note, which raises money for arts education programs.
The "Glee Live" tour played only 10 dates in four cities after the show's first season but expanded to 18 cities in North America and three in Europe in 2011. The cancellation of this year's tour has little to do with ticket sales: Last year's tour sold out all 40 dates.
The TV show's ratings have waned some this season, however. Co-creator Ryan Murphy, who was also instrumental in creating the live show, also has commitments to FX's "American Horror Story" and an NBC comedy pilot called "The New Normal."
