'Glee' Season 5: New cast members upped to series regulars
A new class is coming front and center on "Glee." After the news that Heather Morris, Mark Salling, Amber Riley and Harry Shum, Jr. are taking secondary roles the show, it's being reported that five recurring actors have been promoted to series regulars in Season 5.
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Melissa Benoist (Marley), Jacob Artist (Jake), Becca Tobin (Kitty), Blake Jenner (Ryder) and Alex Newell (Unique) will now be the central focus of the series. Don't expect to see Morris, Salling, Riley or Shum much either. They reportedly may only return as occasional guest stars, while Dianna Agron's Quinn Jayma Mays' Emma may only have possible guest appearances.
Of the new cast, it seems like Benoist is the Lea Michele replacement and Jenner will be the new Cory Monteith. Meanwhile Artist could be the new Salling, as his character is Puck's younger half-brother. "Glee" returns with its fifth season on Sept. 19.
