'Glee' songs: What are the kids' 'Guilty Pleasures'?
The first guilty-pleasure song certainly deserves the title -- "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" by WHAM!, sung by Blaine ( Darren Criss) and Sam ( Chord Overstrett)
Whatever your musical taste, Sam hit the musical nail right on the head. It's really impossible to consider Barry Manilow's "Copacabana" as anything other than a guilty pleasure. (Full disclosure: It's my go-to karaoke song. Fuller disclosure: I'm terrible at karaoke.)
Blaine's entry into the guilty-pleasure song fest is definitely, even if it's not a song that I personally would find pleasurable: "Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now") by Phil Collins.
This next song, "Wannabe" by the Spice Girls (as performed by Marley, Kitty, Tina, Unique and Brittany), is not even a little bit guilty. It's just pure pleasure. Or maybe that's just my opinion.
Jake ( Jacob Artist) apparently has a secret love for Bobby Brown's "My Prerogative."
The inclusion of "Creep" by Radiohead seems a little odd. After all, this is an incredible song and nothing that anyone should ever feel guilty about. There's also the fact that liking Radiohead is always a good first step to being a music snob. Maybe this song is an aberration? Whatever the case, Rachel ( Lea Michele) and Brody ( Dean Geyer) sing the song.
What better way to end a guilty pleasure list than with ABBA. The Swedish group practically defined that musical genre and "Mamma Mia" may be the pinnacle of their achievement in this area.
"Guilty Pleasures" airs Thursday, March 19 at 9pm on FOX.
Are these good examples of guilty pleasures? What songs do you like but won't admit (except on the Internet)?
