'Glee's' Chris Colfer thought his 'Chicago' show was better than Queen Latifah's movieAdd to Favorites | The Queen Latifah Show
Chris Colfer had some explaining to do when he came on "The Queen Latifah Show." She put him to task for bashing her "Chicago" movie when it came out in 2002, but he says there's a good explanation.
"I was in 'Chicago' in my community theatre right when the movie came out, and we had such an amazing experience, the show was so fantastic, that we were like there's no way anything could top our community theatre production of 'Chicago,'" he explains to Queen Latifah. "We're like, 'We'll go see Catherine Zeta-Whatshername and Queen Latifah in this movie, alright, sure,' and we were just blown away. You did good. You did good."
Latifah seems to have forgiven Colfer for that incident from more than a decade ago, as talk quickly turned to his latest bestselling book, "The Land of Stories: The Enchantress Returns." Colfer recently signed a three-book deal with Little, Brown for the series, which means he's locked in up through the fourth "Land of Stories" novel.
According to Colfer, this has been a dream long in the making. He started writing the books when he was seven, and his grandmother helped him develop the stories.
"My grandmother was my editor. Every day I would write a new chapter that would be about a page and a half or so and I'd turn it into her and she'd spell and grammar check it for me," he says. "If she liked it she kept it and added it to her stash, but if she didn't she'd throw it in the trash. She'd tell me, 'Christopher you can do better.' ... And she was right."
The next two "Land of Stories" books are due out in 2014 and 2015.
