Golden Globes Nominations 2013: 'Argo,' 'Lincoln' and 'Homeland' lead the nominees

golden-globes-2013-nominees-homeland-lincoln-argo.jpgThe nominations for the 2013 Golden Globe Awards are in. Megan Fox, Ed Helms, and Jessica Alba presented the noms for the 70th annual awards show on behalf of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

"Lincoln" and "Argo" lead the pack in film, with "Game Change" and "Homeland" bringing home the most nominations in television. "The Newsroom" and "Django Unchained" also get their due after being jilted at the SAG Awards nominations. Aaron Sorkin's drama faces stalwarts "Breaking Bad," "Boardwalk Empire," "Homeland" and "Downton Abbey," while Quentin Tarantino's latest endeavor will be up against Ben Affleck's "Argo," "Life of Pi," "Lincoln," and "Zero Dark Thirty."

In film, the best drama actor noms go to Daniel Day-Lewis, Richard Gere, John Hawkes, Joaquin Phoenix, and Denzel Washington. Motion picture, drama actress nods are given to Jessica Chastain, Marion Cotillard, Helen Mirren, Naomi Watts, and Rachel Weisz.

Comedy and musical motion picture nominees are "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel," "Les Miserables," "Moonrise Kingdom," "Silver Linings Playbook," and the big surprise: "Salmon Fishing in the Yemen."

Comedy film actors receiving nominations are Jack Black, Bradley Cooper, Hugh Jackman, Ewan McGregor, and Bill Murray. Actress nominees for comedy motion picture are Emily Blunt, Judi Dench, Jennifer Lawrence, Maggie Smith, and Meryl Streep.

On the drama side of television, Jeff Daniels received a nod for his portrayal of Will McAVoy on "The Newsroom." He'll go up against Steve Buscemi ("Boardwalk Empire"), Bryan Cranston ("Breaking Bad"), Jon Hamm ("Mad Men"), and Damian Lewis ("Homeland").

Claire Danes joins Lewis in taking a nod for the TV drama, "Homeland." She'll face Connie Britton ("Nashville"), Glenn Close ("Damages"), Michelle Dockery ("Downton Abbey") and Julianna Margulies ("The Good Wife").

Co-hosts of this year's show, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, both received nods for best comedy actress in television. They'll face Zooey Deschanel, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and newcomer Lena Dunham.
