'Good Christian Belles' video preview: 'Mean Girls' meets 'Hope Floats' in Darren Star's ABC soap

good-christian.jpgThe former title "Good Christian B*tches" really would've been perfect for "Good Christian Belles." Alas, we are not censors/ABC and have no input in these decisions.

ABC unveiled its fall 2011-12 line-up on Tuesday, May 17, and "Sex and the City" executive producer Darren Star's "Good Christian Belles" made the cut for midseason. Our immediate thoughts after watching clips from the pilot? 1. Kristin Chenoweth is going to steal every single scene she's in, and 2. This is "Mean Girls" for the older crowd. Naturally, we already love it.

Leslie Bibb
stars as Amanda Vaughn, a former high school "mean girl" who is forced to return home after her marriage ends in scandal. Amanda has changed over the last 20 years and as her old classmates -- Carlene Cockburn (Chenoweth) included -- reacquaint themselves with the new Amanda, will they welcome her with open arms or seek revenge? Sure, it kind of sounds like Sandra Bullock's movie "Hope Floats," but with just the right amount of evil goodness thrown in.

Also starring in the series are Annie Potts, Jennifer Aspen, Miriam Shor, Marisol Nichols, Brad Beyer, Mark Deklin and David James Elliot.

Will you be watching "Good Christian Belles" when it comes on ABC midseason, Zappers? Sound off in the comments.
