'Gossip Girl' EP: Look for early struggles in Dan and Blair's relationship
Safran explains that the two will struggle not only with the physical part of their new partnership but also with the emotional part.
"It's a new kind of relationship for Blair. She's never dated a friend before," Safran says. "And here Dan has become one of Blair's best friends, so that's obviously a new dynamic for her."
But it's not just Blair who will have problems with this new romance. Dan seems to have some difficulties with what this means now that he's finally gotten his dream girl.
Safran explains that Lonely Boy will have to deal with "all those expectations he's had and what he hoped it would be." He adds that Dan might also have a bit of difficulty in getting over Blair's past with Chuck ( Ed Westwick) and that this might influence how their relationship progresses.
As for Chuck, Mr. Bass appears to have achieved a level of emotional maturity and has moved on from his one-time love...at least for now.
"Chuck has made a peace, as much as he can, with the fact that they're [Dan and Blair] together," Safran says. "That doesn't mean though that along his journey he might need to pull Blair into it. But for right now he's staying away from their relationship."
As for other things "Gossip Girl" fans can look forward to during the home stretch of Season 5, Safran revealed the following:
- Diana Payne (Elizabeth Hurley) -- "She comes back with a vengeance to try to get back what she's lost, which is 'The Spectator' and maybe even Nate (Chace Crawford)."
- Ivy (Kaylee DeFer) and Lola (Ella Rae Peck) -- "Those two might find themselves actually moving toward the same thing, and conflict and maybe even partnership might come from that."
- The Gossip Girl computer -- "Serena (Blake Lively) discovers that she has this, and the question becomes what will she do with it. And if she does something with it, will it be for good or for evil?"
Uh oh. Uh oh.
