'Gossip Girl' team goes super-meta with 'Cult' pilot for The CW

savage-schwartz.jpgFake Empire -- the production company helmed by "Gossip Girl" and "Hart of Dixie" team Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage, and Len Goldstien -- is at it again for The CW. This time, they're teaming up with Rockne O'Bannon from "V," who is set to write the pilot script for "Cult."

"Cult" is a cult TV series about a cult TV series.

Is your mind blown yet? The show is about a production assistant on a crime drama -- also called "Cult" -- who teams up with a blogger who is investigating the show's rabid fanbase when they suspect that fans are recreating scenes from the show, leading to disappearances and a murder.

With "Chuck" and "Gossip Girl" under his belt, Schwarz certainly knows his crazy fans and interacts with them regularly on Twitter. (We can't wait to see where 'shippers come in to this series.)

In an interesting twist, The CW is considering picking up the show for a limited, 13-episode run -- treating it as a mini-series as opposed to a first-season pickup. The CW is also considering Fake Empire's "The Carrie Diaries," a "Sex and the City" prequel series.
