Grammys 2011: Lady Gaga arrives in an egg
The pop star promised a red carpet surprise and did not disappoint... only slightly offended some people; She arrived at the Grammys in a gigantic egg which was being carried by four men, evoking a modern-age Cleopatra inside a "District 9" pod.
One of Gaga's supermodel nurses that walked the carpet next to her egg (Yes, seriously) spoke for the incubating Gaga, saying, "Lady Gaga is in creative embryonic stage and won't be born until later this evening."
The metaphor is kind of obvious when you take her latest song "Born This Way," which the 24-year-old is performing on TV for the first time at the awards show, into consideration. Could Gaga not-so-subtlety be saying she will be reborn tonight? A source says the outfit and the one she wears during her performance coincide with the single.
The singer's stylist Nicola Formichetti tweeted, "Gaga is in incubation. Tonight's performance is in collaboration with Hussein Chalayan and House of Mugler."
Quick, reach out to the designers ASAP or you could miss your chance to wear your very own egg. Or hang out inside of it.
