We knew it was coming, but that didn't make it any less awesome.

During Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' performance of "Same Love" at the 56th Grammy Awards on Sunday (Jan. 26), near the end of the song, Queen Latifah walked onstage to make a special announcement ...

A total of 33 couples -- gay and straight, of various ages and races, including Lewis' own sister and her fiancee -- that had lined the aisles were prepared to take part in one giant wedding ceremony officiated by Latifah:

"By the power vested in me by the great state of California, I now pronounce you a married couple!" Latifah shouted with barely contained glee.

Madonna then walked onstage to celebrate the 33 newly married couples and to duet with Mary Lambert, the song's vocalist.

But Madonna's singing wasn't enough to pacify 66 offended people, since she wore white to 33 of their weddings:

The entire performance was so powerful as we watched 66 people's dreams come true. The amount of love in that room was almost overwhelming, and the camera caught one sweet moment for the whole country to see -- a newly married husband wiping a tear away from his spouse:

There was one lingering question we had after the song ended, though: What happened to the 34th couple that was supposed to get married as well? Did they get cold feet?
