Grammys 2014: Queen Latifah, Macklemore mass wedding cut off in Florida
The 2014 Grammy Awards ceremony hosted a historical event on Sunday (Jan. 26). Queen Latifiah officiated the weddings of 33 couples -- both gay and straight -- while Madonna and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis performed "Same Love" and "Open Your Heart" onstage.
But some viewers in Florida didn't get to see it.
AT&T U-Verse subscribers in the Orlando, Fla. area reported that their TVs cut-out shortly before the ceremony and only came back on after the lengthy segment had ended.
Was the cut on purpose? According to a statement from U-Verse, the problem was the result of a technical glitch and had nothing to do with the television content.
"Due to a fiber cut [on Sunday] night shortly after 11 pm, some Orlando, Fla., U-verse customers may have experienced a brief disruption of local TV affiliate channels, including CBS. Technicians worked to quickly reroute the impacted video feed and service was restored in about 10 minutes. We apologize for this inconvenience," the statement reads.
Fortunately for anyone wanting to watch the wedding ceremony, online video is widely available and can be watched above.
