It seems that Meredith will be encountering another round of mommy issues as The Hollywood Reporter says Kate Burton will reprise her role as Ellis Grey for the "Grey's Anatomy" Season 11 premiere.

Ellis will appear via flashbacks, most likely to help give backstory to Meredith's half-sister Margaret, who just arrived at Grey-Sloane Memorial as Cristina's replacement. It was revealed in the season finale that Margaret is the never-before-seen love child of Richard Webber and Ellis Grey. Creator Shonda Rhimes tells THR that Margaret has been a storyline since Season 4, and the writers have been waiting for the right time to bring her in.

"We kept thinking about it and it never felt right" Rhimes explains. "It wasn't until I walked into the writers room literally like a month before we started planning the [Season 10] finale and I was like, 'I think it's time for Maggie to show up.' It was just the right moment."

Burton has appeared 17 times on the show and earned two Emmy nominations for her portrayal as Ellis Grey. She's also nominated this year for her guest role as Vice President Sally Langston on "Scandal" -- another Shondaland property.

You can catch her and the never-ending drama of the Richard-Ellis affair when "Grey's Anatomy" returns on Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
