Patrick Dempsey has been confirmed for Michael Bay's "Transformers" three-quel, says Variety.

He first let the news slip in a Brazilian interview, in which he described his character as "dark." He'll play the boss of Megan Fox, who's back to reprise her role as Mikaela. There aren't other details about what sort of employment Mikaela will have for this film. Shia LaBeouf will also be back.

New faces besides Dempsey include "Community's" Ken Jeong, John Malkovich and Frances McDormand.

The film is set to be released in July 2011.
