Thank you, Shonda Rhimes, you beautiful, mad genius, for throwing us for more than one loop on Thursday (Nov. 14) night's "Grey's Anatomy." As if the cheating/breakup story for Callie and Arizona wasn't heartbreaking enough, we found out that we were missing a huge part of their story that made everything even more heartwrenching than we previously thought.

You see, in "Sorry Seems To Be the Hardest Word," we found out that post-airplane crash and post-leg amputation but pre-cheating, Callie and Arizona were actually in a good place. Like, a really good place. So much so, in fact, that they were trying to get Arizona pregnant via a sperm donor. Say what?!?

And not only were they trying for another baby, Arizona successfully got pregnant! They were happy, things were great, and that made it all the more heartbreaking since we knew this wouldn't last. While Callie was in a surgery (that went wrong and led to a huge trial when the Olympic athlete who had to have both legs amputated and sued the hospital, but the hospital won), Arizona went to a doctor's appointment and found out that she miscarried.

When Callie tried to be supportive later and said they could wait a bit before trying again, Arizona dropped a truth bomb on her wife: she couldn't handle any more loss. This was it for her. And we all know what comes next: Arizona cheating with the hot Peds doctor. Congratulations, "Grey's Anatomy," you made something we all thought we were finally getting over even more sad. Thanks.

And then, as if our hearts couldn't take any more grief, we saw as Callie heeded advice from her father and went to Arizona's hotel room to tell her she was ready to forgive her infidelity and try to make their relationship work again. Is this a bright spot in the otherwise bleak saga of Callie and Arizona?

We argue no, since unbeknownst to Callie, Arizona had a naked intern -- Leah -- in her room hiding behind the door. Arizona unceremoniously told her to get dressed and leave (she wasn't even looking at her when she said that!). How much do you want to bet that Arizona's cold, callous treatment of Leah is going to come back to bite her in her butt? Secrets don't stay secret for long, and intern Leah already bragged to all the other interns she was hooking up with Arizona. This potential Callie/Arizona reunion is probably going to be short-lived.

Poor Callie.

"Grey's Anatomy" airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
