Marvel fans now have a face to attach to the next big MCU villain, Thanos. It is being reported that Josh Brolin will play the character, who was first introduced in a post-credits tease in "The Avengers."
"Guardians of the Galaxy" director James Gunn has been open about the fact that Thanos will be a character in his movie, and now Latino Review reveals that Brolin is going to be the man behind the purple skin. However, it's unclear if he will just voice the character or use motion capture to play him. Marvel Studios has not confirmed the news at press time.
Actor Damion Poitier played Thanos in the post-credits tease Joss Whedon directed, but it was always assumed the "Firefly" star would be temporary. After that promise of more Thanos, the character will come to the forefront as the seeming mastermind of "Guardians of the Galaxy."
Hopefully that means some Thanos storylines will trickle down into "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" as well. "Guardians of the Galaxy" hits theaters on Aug. 1, 2014, and "Agents of SHIELD" is expected to return with Season 2 in September 2014.
