Guy Ritchie to direct adaptation of 'Treasure Island'

guy-ritchie-getty.jpgIt looks like Warner Bros has found someone to map their path to "Treasure Island."

Deadline is reporting that Guy Ritchie is attached to direct the latest version of the Robert Louis Stevenson pirate story. The publication adds that Alex Harakis will write the script.

The 1883 book has been adapted into more than 50 TV shows and movies. The most recent version was a 2012 British mini-series which starred Eddie Izzard as Long John Silver. Orson Welles played Silver in the 1972 film.

The picture will be produced by Ritchie as well as Lionel Wigram ( "Harry Potter" series) and Kevin McCormick ( "Arthur").

So Zappers, how do you think Ritchie will do in his version of the classic tale? And more importantly, who would you like to see as Long John Silver? Make your opinion known in the comments section.
