'Halo' TV series and 'Halo 5: Guardians' get target release dates
The company announced on May 16 that the TV series will be released at around the same time as a new video game in the franchise called "Halo 5: Guardians." More plans will be revealed on June 9 at Microsoft's E3 presentation.
"'Halo 5: Guardians' is obviously a big deal for us," Frank O'Connor, franchise development director at 343 Industries, tells the Associated Press. "It's the next chapter in the Master Chief saga. It's also a big deal for us because of the transition to the Xbox One platform. All of the 'Halo' games -- more or less -- have added something to the Xbox ecosystem."
The "Halo" TV series isn't the only piece of original TV content Microsoft is working on. The company also announced reality series "Every Street United," a live stream of Bonnaroo, docuseries "Signal to Noise," Swedish TV show adaptation "Human," pen-and-paper RPG adaptation "Deadlands," Seth Green series "Extraordinary Believers," untitled JASH Comedy show, Warren Ellis novel adaptation "Gun Machine" and live action adaptation of the graphic novel "Winterworld." Meanwhile, Ridley Scott is producing a "Halo" digital feature.
