'Harold and Kumar': Christmas movie on the way, Kal Penn will return
The "Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle" and "Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay" duo will return to the big screen for an expected holiday 2011 release. "A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas" will begin shooting this summer, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"FlashForward's" John Cho will return as Harold. In order to revisit Kumar, co-star Kal Penn is leaving Washington D.C., where he is currently working as Barack Obama's director of public engagement. Penn's "House, M.D." character abruptly committed suicide at the end of the series' fifth season in order to free Penn up to go to Washington. Now that his one year in the White House has come to an end, Penn will return to his acting career in Los Angeles.
The writing and directing team behind the first two flicks did write "A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas," but they're turning over the directing reins to Todd Strauss Schulson, a newbie, so that they can work on directing Universal's "American Pie 4" reboot.
We can't wait to see Harold and Kumar deal with all the stress that naturally surrounds the holidays. They'll be decking the halls with something green, we're sure.
