Harrison Ford, Chadwick Boseman joins the Jackie Robinson movie

Harrison Ford.jpgSuperstar Harrison Ford has signed on to the upcoming Jackie Robinson movie, which is currently being referred to as "42." He'll be playing Branch Rickey, the Hall of Fame baseball executive who integrated the sport by promoting Jackie Robinson to the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947.

Not content to promote players who were more talented, game-wise, Rickey settled on Robinson because his maturity and fortitude would prepare him to deal with the inevitable harassment he was going to face.

For the lead role of Robinson, Legendary Pictures chose a relative unknown, Chadwick Boseman. He had small roles in shows like "Justified" and "Castle," but this is a huge break for him. Especially acting opposite Ford.

Robert Redford was attached to the role of Rickey as recently as April. We're thrilled to see Ford doing a role that might actually get some butts in the theater. Sorry Harrison.
