hatfields-and-mccoys-hist.jpgThe conclusion of History Channel's miniseries "Hatfields & McCoys" beat its own ratings record on Wednesday (May 30), capping a huge three-night run for the cable network.

The finale drew 14.3 million viewers, setting a new mark for the most-watched entertainment broadcast -- i.e., not a sporting event or news program --ever on ad-supported cable. Part one of the miniseries (13.9 million) held the record for all of two nights. Wednesday's installment also drew 5.1 million people in the adults 18-49 demographic and 6.3 million people ages 25-54.

For all three nights, "Hatfields & McCoys" averaged 13.8 million viewers and 4.9 million adults 18-49 -- the latter number is the best for a movie or miniseries on cable since 1998. All three parts were far and away the most-watched shows on television on their respective nights, cable or broadcast.
