'Hawaii Five-0' preview: Danno don't surf, McGarrett caught with his pants down

CBS has scheduled an episode of the show for Sunday night (Jan. 23) after the network's coverage of the NFL's AFC championship game. The game kicks off at 6:30 p.m. ET, so "Five-0" should begin somewhere around 10 p.m. (or 7 p.m. PT -- the episode will air right after the game in all time zones).

The episode, "Kai e'e" ("Tidal Wave"), has the team looking for the missing director of the island's Tsunami Warning Center -- which is especially important since Oahu receives a tsunami warning as the episode begins.

The warning, sadly, also keeps us from our first-ever glimpse of Danny ( Scott Caan) in the water. The episode opens with Danny getting a surfing lesson from Kono ( Grace Park); you can see it in the first of the two clips below. The warning forces them to evacuate the beach, and we're guessing that the impending waves might keep him away from the beach for a while.

In the second clip, McGarrett ( Alex O'Loughlin) and his girlfriend Catherine (recurring guest Michelle Borth) are sort of literally caught with their pants down when the warning hits, then play a one-upping game in swapping information about the situation. For McGarrett, this is flirting.

The AFC title game between the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers will pull a huge audience for CBS; FOX aired the NFC title game in primetime last year, and it averaged nearly 58 million viewers. That should mean the biggest audience yet for "Five-0."
