Hayden Panettiere reveals struggle with body dysmorphia as a teen
"I was mortified. It gave me such body dysmorphia for so long. But I remember reminding myself that beauty is an opinion, not a fact. And it has always made me feel better," she tells Women's Health.
She adds that she tries not to obsess over every little calorie or workout.
"I find when I'm overly concerned about what I eat, I stress out my body and put on weight," says Panettiere. "Eating healthy is a constant battle. I love chips."
But her strategy is to make herself eat something health first, then she can finish with whatever she wants -- "Then I don't want the unhealthy thing so much, because I'm full."
Her favorite snack is a smoothie made with almond milk, whey protein and a banana and her favorite body/mind detox is Bikram yoga.
