"Project Runway's" Heidi Klum went as over the top as ever for her Halloween costume, this year completely transforming into the body of a 95-year-old woman thanks to a lot of help from prosthetics. So why did she decide to go that route for her outfit? According to her, because everyone made such a big deal of the fact she turned 40.

"There was so much talk about me turning 40 this year and what it felt like to be older," Klum tells People. "I thought, really? I will show you old!"

Klum went to her friends to help her with the transformation. Makeup artist Bill Corso did a cast of her face and showed the process on Instagram. She also thanked special effects pro Andy Clement for the prosthetics. Then it was a matter of making the costume seem real.

"The rest of my ideas -- the grey hair, yellow-stained teeth, lots of wrinkles, a hunchback, arthritic hands, age spots and milky eyes -- he just made happen!" she says. "I chose a vintage Chanel suit, because you can never go wrong with Chanel, no matter how old you are."
