Heisman trophy winner: Robert Griffin III from Baylor

Robert-Griffin-III.jpgIt's official. The Heisman trophy winner has been announced. Beating out longstanding favorite Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck, Baylor's junior QB Robert Griffin III, better known as RG3, took the 77th Heisman trophy home to Waco, Texas. He is the first ever winner from that school.

During his acceptance speech, Griffin, who is likely headed to the NFL said, "This is unbelievably believable. It's unbelievable because in the moment we're all amazed when great things happen. But it's believable because great things don't happen without hard work."

Griffin beat out the favorite, Stanford's Andrew Luck, after his poor performance against Oregon on November 12th dropped his odds. Luck was also the first to congratulate Griffin on his win.

"Everybody associated with Baylor has a reason to celebrate tonight," Griffin said. He was definitely wearing his lucky Superman socks tonight!
