Henry Cavill is the new 'Superman'
Deadline reports that actor Henry Cavill, perhaps best known for playing Charles Brandon on Showtime's "The Tudors," has landed the dream gig of playing Clark Kent and Superman in Warner Brothers and Legendary Pictures' upcoming reboot of the franchise.
Director Zack Snyder has this to say on their choice: "In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time, and I am honored to be a part of his return to the big screen. I also join Warner Bros., Legendary and the producers in saying how excited we are about the casting of Henry. He is the perfect choice to don the cape and S shield."
Since deciding to go in a different direction from the previous reboot starring Brandon Routh, it had been assumed that this new Superman would star an actor around 30-years-old. Cavill turns 28 in May of 2011.
Later this year, he'll also be seen in "The Immortals," in which he plays Greek warrior Theseus, and conspiracy thriller "The Cold Light of Day."
