Herman Cain drops out of presidential race

herman-cain-gi.jpgAfter a woman came forward earlier this week saying she had carried on a 13-year relationship with married Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain, the Atlanta businessman announced Saturday (Dec. 3) that he would drop out of the race for the Republican nomination.

"As of today, with a lot of prayer and soul searching, I am suspending my presidential campaign," he says. "I am suspending my presidential campaign because of the continued distraction, the continued hurt ... on me, on my family, not because we are not fighters, not because I am not a fighter."

Not only did Cain, who has no political experience despite emerging as the race's frontrunner in recent weeks, have to deal with the accusations of Ginger White (who provided compelling proof in a phone bill on which Cain appeared 61 times), news also emerged that he had dealt with multiple accusations of sexual harassment while running the National Restaurant Association in the '90s, the Los Angeles Times reports.
