The former "Lizzie McGuire" star's rep confirms to E! News on Friday (Jan. 10) that she and her former NHL hockey player are splitting up after three years of marriage.

"Hilary Duff and husband Mike Comrie have mutually decided to an amicable separation," Duff's rep says in a statement. "They remain best friends and will continue to be in each other's lives. They are dedicated to loving and parenting their amazing son, and ask for privacy at this time."

The two, who were married in August 2010, share son Luca Cruz Comrie, who will turn 2-years-old in March.

A source tells E! News that the split is "extremely friendly" and is the result of a gradual driving apart over time, despite a stab at couple's therapy. They will, according to the source, remain best friends.

The former couple recently took little Luca on his first trip to Disneyland, just two days after Christmas. Photos of the family outing seem to prove that, despite a broken marriage, Duff and Comire can still enjoy one another's company.
