'Home Alone' house for sale for $2.4 million in Illinois

home-alone-house.jpgThe beautiful red-brick Georgian home Macaulay Culkin defended against Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern in the 1990 John Hughes movie "Home Alone" is for sale for $2.4 million, reports the Chicago Tribune.

The homeowners are John and Cynthia Abendshien and they purchased the Winnetka, IL home in 1988 for $875,000 are empty-nesters and are now looking to sell. They say they realize the market isn't great right now, but hopefully the home's "attributes and cachet" will attract a buyer.

The house is 4250 square feet and features four bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms and the staircase in the front hall featured prominently in the movie. Marissa Hopkins of Coldwell Banker says there won't be an open house and only pre-qualified buyers can make an appointment. "I would be a zoo," says Hopkins. "There are a lot of people who would like to see the Home Alone house if they were given the opportunity."

In other famous Illinois real estate news, Cameron's house from "Ferris Bueller" is temporarily off the market, but will be relisted, Coldwell agent Meladee Hughes tells the Trib. It went from $2.3 million down to $1.65 million and will probably be even lower when it is relisted.
