gideon-raff-tim-kring-dig-usa-gi.jpgUSA has given the green light to a six-episode miniseries called "Dig" from creators Gideon Raff ( "Homeland") and Tim Kring ( "Heroes").

The show -- er, "event series" -- will film in Jerusalem and is set to premiere in late 2014. It tells the story of a Jerusalem-based FBI agent who investigates a murder and stumbles on a millennia-old conspiracy that "could change the course of history."

"We've been looking for a project that makes a statement," says Jeff Wachtel, the head of NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment. "This team of storytellers has put together a smart, sophisticated and compelling show that will hit the market with a big bang and a lasting impression."

Raff created the Israeli series "Prisoners of War" on which "Homeland" is based; he's also an executive producer of the Showtime series. Kring's most recent series was "Touch" on FOX.
