'Homeland' Season 3 episode 12 'The Star': How will the finale end?
"Homeland" is hurtling to its Season 3 finale, and it's anyone's guess as to how the show will end. A new promo for "The Star" has premiered, and it relies heavily on footage from previous Season 3 episodes instead of teasing a resolution to the episode 11 cliffhanger. So what will come next?
It might seem like a hard pill to swallow, but this may finally be the season that the writers kill off Brody. The death has been tiptoed around for seasons, but at this point what other hope is there for the character? It's hard to picture an easy journey for him back to the United States, even though he managed to successfully kill Akbari Sunday night (Dec. 8). A future for him and Carrie doesn't seem bright.
Even if Brody does live (and here's hoping he does, because Damian Lewis has been at the top of his game this year), there's no way Saul can actually resolve problems in the Middle East ... is there? "Homeland" requires a certain suspension of disbelief, but there's got to be something that happens in "The Star" that throws a rut in Saul's plan.
Then there's Carrie herself. Her growing pregnancy has to come to light in the finale, because -- as shown in "Big Man in Tehran" -- she is seriously starting to show. How will Brody and Saul respond to her keeping that a secret, and will it be Quinn who finally brings it to light? It will be fun to see how that plays out.
And though the Brody family has been largely absent from the second half of Season 3, the finale will likely be when they make their return. Here's hoping Dana and Brody have a better reunion than their last one.
