Nazanin-Boniadi-homeland-season-4-gi.jpgNazanin Boniadi might be busy on "Scandal" right now, but soon she will be getting an increased role in "Homeland." The actress, who portrayed Fara Sherazi in Season 3, has been promoted to series regular in Season 4.

It makes sense that "Homeland" would want to keep around its lesser players instead of adding too many new actors to the mix. Season 3 ended on a bit of a reboot for the show, and Season 4 will follow Carrie Mathison as she heads into the field. Fara will have a "key role" working for Carrie in the CIA, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

"Obviously it's going to require a fair bit of reinvention, but [showrunner] Alex [Gansa] and his team are inheriting a lot of players still on the board, most notably Carrie [Claire Danes]," executive producer Howard Gordon told Zap2it at the TCA 2014 winter press tour, where he was promoting his new FX series "Tyrant." "I mean, we always conceived of the show really early as the axis of Carrie and Saul [Mandy Patinkin]; [it] is so powerful, and those characters have so much more in them."

Of what fans can expect from Season 4, he said, "It's such a remarkable group of writers and actors. I want what everyone else wants: A good show. I don't think you can ever go backwards. You can only go forwards. We'll see [if there will be another big question mark]. We'll see."
