With "Homeland" Season 4's premiere creeping every closer, the first stills from the upcoming season have been released by Showtime. Though they aren't especially spoilery, they do offer a good sense of the tone Season 4 is taking.
First up is the first official still of Suraj Sharma as Aayaan Ibrahim. He can also be seen briefly in the one minute Season 4 teaser as a source Carrie tries to get close to, which showrunner Alex Gansa said at the 2014 TV summer press tour will be a big part of her story.
As for Claire Danes' Carrie, she can be seen on her own and seemingly on a mission in her two new stills. With Season 4 set in Pakistan, Meredith Steihm said Carrie is "in a completely different role now that she's overseas."
"Emotionally, she has stabilized," Stiehm said. "She's going into this season very steady. There are some people who are so talented that you forgive past deeds and erratic behavior. I think Carrie Mathison is one of those people."
As for Mandy Patinkin's Saul Berenson, he'll be in a new relationship with Carrie now that he's outside of the CIA. Still, something in the above picture is enough to give him pause.
In addition to Sharma, new faces in Season 4 include Corey Stoll, Laila Robins, Mark Moses, Nimrat Kaur and Art Malik. The two-hour Season 4 premiere airs Sunday, Oct. 5 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Showtime.
