Morena Baccarin is switching from dark TV drama to big screen comedy. The "Homeland" star -- who has a smaller role in the show's Season 4 -- joined the new Melissa McCarthy comedy "Spy," which will be directed by "Bridesmaids" director Paul Feig.
This is Feig and McCarthy's third film together after "Bridesmaids" and "The Heat." In "Spy," McCarthy plays a CIA analyst who has to go into the field for the first time. Baccarin will play an agent who is especially good -- and deadly -- at her job, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Meanwhile, Deadline reports Allison Janney will play CIA agent Elaine Crocker.
Filming is already underway in Europe. "Spy" also stars Jason Statham, Jude Law, Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale, 50 Cent and Peter Serafinowicz. The film is due in theaters on May 22, 2015.
