'Horrible Bosses' comes in at a solid second, 'Transformers' now top grossing film of 2011

transformers-3-opening-day.jpgTwo films had very, very good weekends. "Horrible Bosses" bested expectations, bringing in an estimated $28 million and coming in second to the unstoppable "Transformers: Dark of the Moon's."

As for "Transformers," the third installment of the franchise made $47 million in week 2, pushing its total revenue since premiering to $261 million. That makes it the highest-grossing domestic release of 2011.

"Zookeeper," the week's other big new offering from Kevin James, also outperformed expectations, coming in shy of "Horrible Bosses'" take with $21 million.

Later this week, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" comes out, so "Transformers" should start saying goodbye to the #1 spot right now.
